Common questions
What is included in Free and Pro?
Free includes one persisted project, unlimited samples and variations, the complete compare-and-approve workflow, outputs, the session calculator, and prefill from an existing saved recipe. Lifetime Pro unlocks unlimited project creation, structured recipe creation and editing, calculator-result application, and independent projects created from approved finishes. Existing records and recipes are never hidden when entitlement changes.
How do I restore Pro?
Choose Restore Purchases in Help or on the Pro screen. FinishTrace asks Apple to synchronize only after that explicit tap. Apple handles account authentication; FinishTrace does not receive Apple Account or payment credentials.
Where are records stored?
In the app’s local container on your iPhone. FinishTrace has no developer-operated backend or cloud sync. Apple may process app data as part of system device backup according to your backup settings.
How do I compare a variation?
Open a project sample and choose Create Variation. State what you plan to change, edit the new sample, then open Compare to see only the fields that differ from its source.
What is the difference between verdict and approval?
A verdict is an observation about one test. Approval records the physical winner selected for a project, including who decided and an optional note.
What is a structured recipe?
A Pro structured recipe stores one layer’s declared mixed-system coverage per coat, units, and one to four named component ratios by volume. Weight ratios and percentage reducers are not calculated. It can prefill a new calculator session. Surface size, faces, allowance, and calculated amounts remain session inputs and are not stored as recipe facts.
Can I reuse an approved finish?
With Pro, open an actually approved sample and choose Start New Project from This Finish. FinishTrace creates independent project, sample, layer, recipe, and component identities, copies the preparation and schedule, and clears approval, verdict, observations, photo, label, and variation lineage. The new schedule is an editable starting point, not a new approval.
What happens when I scan a sample QR?
The local finishtrace:// link opens that sample in FinishTrace on the same iPhone. A deleted or invalid sample shows an explanation. Scanning does not use a FinishTrace server or transmit the record.
Can I make an external copy?
Open one record and use Share for a plain-text summary or reproduction PDF. FinishTrace 1.0 does not provide bulk export or its own cloud backup.
What happens if I remove the app?
Removing FinishTrace removes its local records. Share important records before uninstalling.
Is FinishTrace safety guidance?
No. It records your observations and produces an arithmetic estimate only from assumptions you enter. Actual coverage can vary. Use manufacturer-declared mixed-system coverage and ratios by volume, and follow product labels, technical data sheets, and applicable safety documentation.
